With an average broadband speed of 64mbps, the UK is ranked amongst the lowest in Europe for its poor internet connectivity. Over the next 5 years, the UK government has set a target to connect a further 20 million homes to full fibre broadband.

We have rolled out fibre to 30,000 homes in the UK in its first 10 months, making us one of the fastest growing Altnets in the UK.

We are currently building our teams for the future and are looking for Experienced Multi Skilled Fibre Engineers to join us in the North West of England (Bradford, Lancashire and Manchester).
About the Role
This is an exciting role for someone looking to join a small delivery team of like minded people to build a large-scale fibre to the home business. As an experienced Fibre Engineer, you will be at the forefront of the build and have the opportunity to share and implement your knowledge with our trainee Fibre Engineers. You'll be joining at the start of a very fast paced and exciting growth phase of the business with lots to get stuck into. This will involve the following:
- Extensive knowledge in Fibre testing & Fault finding.
- Building Cabinets, Patch panels & be able to Patch these.
- Fully conversant with Splicing Plans & Schematics.
- Installing sub-duct and blown fibre cable on Core routes.
- Installing cable both Overhead and Underground
- Introducing fibre to UG nodes and AFN’s (Aeriel Fibre Nodes)
- Building and creating nodes (fibre cable joints).
- Developing and building your knowledge of leading and training others.
- Being a Health & Safety ambassador for the SHEQ department – being our eyes and ears on the ground.
You will be a decisive thinker and be able to analyse information quickly and use it to make robust decisions. Analytical and solution oriented, you will be able to deal with a fast moving and changing environment. These experienced engineer posts are pivotal field roles in business and corporate delivery within each of our regions.
Our experienced fibre engineers will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, demonstrated through their ownership and accountability on complex engineering jobs. The successful candidates will be skilled at using their engineering expertise and personal qualities to think ahead and predict outcomes, developing solutions that proactively mitigate business impacts.
You will be proactive in matters of safety and will be committed to keeping pace with standards and legislation, driving a safety-first culture with your team, suppliers and customers.
Finally, you will know the importance of a right first-time culture, and are a clear and proactive communicator promoting best practice across the business.
We are offering a salary of around £38k to £42K for candidates who can display the above skills and behaviours. We also provide 26 days of holiday in addition to public holidays, private healthcare, tools and training to do the role as well as the opportunity to develop your career with us as a fibre engineer.
